Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT) is the forerunner of todays widely used Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and is a well established counselling approach.
REBT is ideal for people who are experiencing unpleasant emotions such as:
Stress, Anxiety, Anger, Depression, Guilt etc.,
and who find that these feelings lead to acting in ways that are unhelpful to themselves.
How it Works
There are no secrets in REBT and everything is explained as we progress.
This is not a therapist doing something to you, but two people working together to reach your goals.
You will learn the basic principles of REBT and develop an awareness of how your thoughts, feelings and behaviour influence each other.
Together, we will look at the ABC process and understand, using your personal examples, how this process can be helpful and unhelpful.
After understanding how the ABC process works for you, we can tailor it to your needs to help you get the most benefit from REBT.
We will look at how to dispute and challenge unhelpful thinking that influences the way you feel and the actions you take.
We will set targets to help you achieve the long term benefits of REBT.
Counselling sessions for REBT are usually weekly for 50 minutes over a period of approximately 4 to 6 weeks.
You will need to put into practice the things that we discuss during sessions. There is a suggested worksheet which you can choose to use if it is helpful.
Professional Fees for REBT online video counselling are £50 per session payable in advance. There is no charge for the 15 minute introduction.
